Big boom! This is the largest sub-woofer we DIY rent and it will melt your face when turned up. This sub-woofer provides an astonishing amount of bass and it’s surprising light-weight. Suitable for larger events, EDM concerts and small festivals (300-500) people. Great choice if you love bass.

This is one of our loudest self-powered speakers for its size - it's an industry classic. Mackie makes a very efficient and responsive speaker at nearly 500 watts. We find the highs can sound a touch gritty when over-driven so we recommend running these at 3/4 volume for clean clear audio. This speaker accepts XLR connections. 

A good sounding, louder subwoofer (128 peak SPL) by the Canadian company Mackie. Although powered by a 15” driver the cabinet looks like it holds an 18”. A little larger and heavier to transport.

This small, lightweight ultra portable subwoofer packs a punch at 2000 watts. Despite it's impressive specs it has a different frequency response than our other subwoofers (which are larger and heavier). We love the sound but isn't as loud as some of our larger subwoofers which move more air. It produces sub-bass frequencies that are heard more than felt. It's ideal for awkward loading situations and smaller rooms.

Most of our professional wireless audio systems can be equipped with discreet skin-tone condenser microphones. This style of microphone has become a common standard in the industry. Headsets are closer than LAV microphones and often more clarity, volume with less noise. LAV microphones are still less visible. Headset microphones of this kind are often rented for school plays (special rates offered), corporate presentations, comedy and vocal performances.

The transmitter features 188 selectable UHF frequencies and operates up to 10 hours on two-AA size alkaline batteries (10mW output power). An LCD display and a 3.5mm input jack is switchable between mic- and line-level signals. 

This system turns an ordinary dynamic microphone into a wireless. These units can also be used to create wireless speaker system (accepts line level inputs). XVIVE units work exceptionally well with low latency and long-lasting 5 hour rechargeable lithium batteries. This is one of the best ideas we’ve seen in audio, it replaces the cable without any reduction in quality. The battery powered receiver makes it suitable for off-grid ceremonies and video production. These cannot be used with phantom powered microphones without a preamp, they do not supply 48v. Pairs well with our battery powered Mackie Freeplay PA system.

Sennheiser has some of the best sounding heads in the industry with the 835. We like them more than a Shure 58 in many situations. This latest offering from Shure is long range (external antenna), professional, scans for channels and does everything it should in a complicated wireless world. We find the mute switch and silent on/off switch very user friendly.

These industry standard microphones are hard to beat for sound quality, range, reliability and ease of use. We’ve used this unit outdoors at 225 feet without an issue. This microphone and the Sennheiser G3 are our two favorites.

Sennheiser makes some of the highest quality wireless microphone systems in the industry. When the demands for audio are higher we reach for these. We like them even more than Shure systems. These feature rich dynamic microphones are highly reliable and sound great. The low signal to noise ratio makes them a great choice for media events and broadcast audio. Also suitable for vocalists, corporate presentations, and weddings.

Sennheiser makes some of the cleanest, high fidelity, reliable wireless microphones in the industry. Great signal to noise ratios that make this mic appropriate for live sound, audio recording and videography. The ME2 Lav mic is one of our favorites, with a crisp clear sound. The XS unit can also be used as a wireless relay or wireless guitar transmitter as well. They are a trusted “go to” solution for great sounding audio.

This multipurpose keyboard amp is powerful enough to be useful as a mini-PA system - very portable with lots of volume for the size. Has a series of on-board inputs (mostly 1/4" and one XLR mic input) for connecting DJ equipment, guitars or microphones. One component (Red and White). Appropriate for smaller gatherings. We recommend our PA speakers (Yorkville, JBL, Crate or Mackie) for events beyond 20 people.

These handy pop-up tents are a must to protect audio equipment from snow and rain during outdoor events. Two people are required to pull out the shelter. The tent should be anchored with weights or stakes, otherwise wind gusts can damage the frame. Sets up with our without walls.

Laptop based digital karaoke system. Comes with speakers, wireless microphones, external display monitor, boss digital reverb vocal unit, and a laptop loaded with 8, 000 songs. Advanced karaoke requests are available.  

Deep cycle battery banks are currently our preferred method for powering PA systems (wherever plugs aren't found). We don't normally recommend battery powered speakers as the audio isn't as good. A portable bank allows allows you to power any of our top-notch 120 V self powered speakers and microphones away from a plug.

We have phased this unit out because they were low quality and sounded terrible. We are now using the much better Mackie Freeplay when a portable battery powered speaker is needed, please inquire for more details.

Our gas generators are capable of powering our sound and lighting systems if a plug isn't accessible. We usually rent the 1500 watt size for most PA and lighting systems. We are able to provide extensions chords for outlets up to one hundred feet. If you are powering a wedding ceremony or noise is a consideration we recommend our battery bank instead. Generators are best for high drain applications where noise is less of a factor (such as a DJing a wedding reception). 

This is one of the main mixers we use for mixing small concerts at CAV. The preamps have a lovely warm tone and the mix layout is very efficient. Our stagebox style digital mixers come with a laptop or tablet and router for a reliable wireless connection. Also suitable for 20 channel studio audio recording through a USB connection and DAW. Although available DIY this is a more advanced audio mixer generally more suitable for full service.

We absolutely love these mixers! Digital mixers are revolutionary. They replace a room full audio processing equipment in a small, portable stage box. This 18 channel mixer is very capable. This type of mixer is a must for live sound and musicians. We are currently the only company in Calgary renting this particular model. It’s become our go-to mixer for live sound and corporate events. Can be used as a DAW interface for recording or a live digital mixer. We recommend using it with a LAN cable or one of our external routers, the internal wifi can be spotty. We are happy to supply a laptop or tablet with your rental. This is a very powerful mixer from an audio engineering standpoint, due to the complexity we recommend renting this unit with an audio technician. At 12 channels this is an ideal unit for small concerts or DJ setups. This mixer offers complete wireless control, you can tweak the volume with any Wifi device (android, apple, PC or Mac). All sorts of audio tools are included (EQs, reverbs, delays, compression). A USB stick enables recording of anything patched into the mixer.

Reliable and durable, our industry standard SM58 microphone. Great for live performances or close microphone situations (within 6 inches of speakers).

This is one of our favourite microphones for live sound applications. We think they sound a bit better than an Sm58 in most cases. Although it’s a wired microphone we are able to make them wireless with a transmitter receiver.

These industry standard rugged microphones have a narrow pickup pattern -they are a favorite instrument mic. Suitable in noisy environments, they can be used for instruments, speech or vocals.

Perfect for podiums or situations where the speakers is a bit further away from the microphone. 

A better sounding SM58. These can be made wireless with our Xvive wireless system. Blue microphones capture more of the high frequencies than other microphone in their class. The increased sensitivity sounds great but may require additional EQ work to prevent feedback.

A set of very sweet vintage small diaphragm condenser microphone. Low noise, great tone. These sound expensive. Great for videographers, musicians and podcasts.

Great little handheld cardioid condenser mic.

The cardioid pickup pattern minimizes annoying feedback (when used close to sound reinforcement speakers and monitors) and reduces the pickup of unwanted off-axis sounds. A transformerless electronic design provides optimum low frequency response and low distortion. An effective internal multistage pop filter minimizes wind and breath noise.

The CAD C195 provides the performance and features to satisfy today's most demanding professionals.

The low-frequency response of the CAD C195 may be enhanced by increasing or decreasing the distance from the sound source. This phenomenon is technically known as ‘proximity effect’. Nominal or ‘flat’ response is generated at a distance of 24 inches or more. However, as the distance to the sound source decreases, the bass sensitivity increases, providing a solid, robust character.

The CAD C195 features the CAD exclusive (I.N.R.-3) Impact Noise Rejection system

Our proprietary rubber shock mount isolates the transducer from the barrel, thus dramatically reducing cable, stand and handling noise. The need for any external shock mounting device is virtually eliminated.

These microphones are often used for corporate video productions but are also great when additional noise rejection is required. They have a very narrow pickup pattern directly in-front of their nose. Great for musicians and film-makers when recording or performing live. We also rent boom poles and other accessories.

These units allow us to improve the sound of our PA systems. Potential microphone volume is greatly increased by reducing the possibility of feedback with a graphic EQ.

Classic vintage style microphone that excels in a live performance environment. The “Elvis” mic is also a great look for jazz performance.

We don’t love all mics by Apex but this one is a winner! Great tone at a reasonable price.

Generally considered to be the ideal microphone for vocals, solo instruments and any broadcast application, the classic ribbon microphone design boasts the most natural sounding audio capture available.

The active element of the Apex210B is a very thin corrugated aluminium ribbon mounted under low tension between the poles of a strong magnet. The asymmetrical figure-8 pickup pattern has an extended sweet spot on the rear face of the microphone allowing the recording to accurately reproduce the natural space and ambient reverberation of a good sounding live room with incredibly fast and accurate transient response and stunning realism. The Apex210B ribbon microphone is ideal for todays direct to digital recordings.

Although ribbon microphones are by their nature extremely fragile, the Apex210B can handle high sound pressure levels approaching 165dB range. The low-tension 2-inch long, 2-micron thick aluminum ribbon design offers audio reproduction with smooth, natural extended low and high frequency response. The Apex210B comes in an all new black and smoked chrome finish, and is shipped with a custom designed aluminum carrying case.

These are a bit brighter and more focused than the regular 57. Typically used for instruments and amps, we like them on saxophone. Can be used as a unique vocal mic. We carry the vintage version.

Great fat tone from this classic kick drum mic.

Generally used for live music applications, often used as a kick drum microphone.

DI boxes are a special kind of audio adapter (1/4" to XLR). We offer both active and passive DI boxes. We recommend using them when connecting unbalanced devices (computers, guitars, basses, keyboards) to a sound system. Creates a more consistent signal and reduces noise.

This is a well built quite headphone amp. Suitable for recording and some live situations where in ear monitors might be used.

We have these in both handheld, headset or LAV. This is the newest series from Shure, they continue to be a staple in the industry. Shure and Sennheiser make the best wireless microphones. This series has external antennas, in our experience the best wireless microphones have external antennas. Internal antenna wireless systems don’t get the same range and consistency of reception.
